EFCC detains Medview Airline boss over $900m Hajj money

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Monday detained the Managing Director of Medview Airline, Mr. Muneer Bankole, over $900,000 linked to Hajj operations.
The transactions between him and the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) reportedly took place in 2019.
Bankole, was at the commission’s Abuja office on the invitation of the financial crime agency. He arrived the complex at about 11am.

The fact-sheet reads: “The MD was invited by the anti-graft agency over a case of alleged diversion of 50 percent of funds paid to him by the National Hajj Commission, and additional $900,000 USD, for the airlift of pilgrims in 2019.
“He allegedly received the funds as mobilization but did not execute the contract.” The Head of Media and Publicity of EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed the arrest.
