Dapo Abiodun charges Ogun pilgrims to go with fear of God

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has charged intending pilgrims to Jerusalem from the state to make the fear of God their watchword.
He also admonished them to portray the state in good light as worthy ambassadors and make positive contributions to the development of the state and the country at large.
Abiodun who stated this in Abeokuta, while addressing the state contingent to the holy land, stressed that the possession of the fear of God by any individual would readily make people to perform their civic responsibilities, and contribute their quota voluntarily to issues of governance.
The governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Olatokunbo Talabi, according to a statement by Kehinde Balogun, press officer to the SSG, congratulated the intending pilgrims for their decision to embark on the journey of faith, adding that the visit to Jerusalem was also an avenue to explore the greatness and economic viability of the two nations.
“This visit to the holy land should not be regarded as a fun-fare, but should be seen as an avenue to reinforce the confidence of the people in their capability to accomplish holiness for the good of the land.
“I therefore urge you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to pray fervently for Ogun State and Nigeria as a whole. In addition, I implore you to be security conscious and abide by rules and regulations of the land in your dealings in the holy land”, he stated.
The Governor added that the visit was ‘’to reawaken ourselves to a deeper reflection of the current realities, understanding our duties and inspiration on expectations from all stakeholders in the project Ogun State and project Nigeria in general.”
He thereafter prayed for the peace and mercy of God to go with the contingent, urging them to abstain from the lust of the flesh.
In his welcome address, the Executive Secretary, Ogun State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mr. Abiodun Akunwunmi informed the governor that the intending pilgrims supposed to have embarked on the journey early, but due to some slight delay which had now been resolved.
Responding, on behalf of the contingent, Mrs. Moyosore Omitade appreciated the state governor for the kind words and prayer, assuring that they would not let the state down.
