Buhari sacks AMCON chairman, Banire

President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked the chairman of Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), Dr Muiz Banire.
The President, in a letter to the Senate Tuesday, has asked that Edward Adamu be confirmed as new chairman of the Corporation.
Banire was appointed chairman of AMCON by President Buhari in July 2018 and confirmed by the Senate in October 2018.
No reason has been given for the sudden removal.
AMCON has recently recorded some landmark achievements, securing court orders to seize properties belonging to obligors indebted to the corporation, in effort to recover over N5 trillion debt.
