BREAKING: Buhari orders release of 70,000MT of grains from strategic reserve

President Muhammadu Buhari is beginning to match his words with action to mitigate the hardship that the lock-down of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lagos and Ogun states will have on the very poor in these areas.
The president Wednesday approved the release of 70,000 Metric Tonnes of Grains from Nigeria’s National Strategic Grain Reserves, for distribution to the poor and vulnerable persons in the locked down states and the FCT.
Also included as beneficiaries are persons whose livelihoods will be affected by the Lockdowns.
Buhari’s approval was announced on the Presidency’s Twitter handle.

The president had Sunday ordered a near total shutdown of businesses and movement, except for essential services, in Lagos and Ogun states and the FCT, for two weeks, to enable the country wage the war against the coronavirus pandemic.
