Buhari awards scholarships to 3 Nigerian students

President Muhammadu Buhari has awarded full scholarships, up to doctorate degree level in any Nigerian university, to three Nigerian secondary school students who emerged tops at the Young Scientists Presidential Award Competition in Abuja.

The three victorious students who emerged from among 774 competitors, were named as: Akintade Abdullahi Akanbi, from Osun State, first position; Uwakwe Nelson Kamsiyochukwu, from Anambra State, second position and Aimofumhe Eshiobomhe Sigmus, from the FCT (Abuja) who came third.

The award ceremony was part of the highlights of events marking the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology 2020 Science, Technology and Innovation Expo, which began Monday and would end March 20, 2020, at the Eagle Square, Abuja.

The science expo has as its theme, “Enhancing the Growth of a Diversified Economy Through Science & Technology.”

Elated President Buhari who posed for photographs with the young scientists, twitted after the awards: “At the 2020 Science, Technology & Innovation Expo, today, it was my pleasure to grant full scholarships – up to PhD level – to 3 secondary students who emerged winners at the Young Scientists Presidential Award Competition: Akintade Akanbi, Uwakwe Kamsiyochukwu, and Aimofumhe Sigmus.”
