BREAKING: Crisis hits Abia APC, court voids Ikechi Emenike's membership

A High Court of Abia State sitting in Umuahia, on Thursday restrained one of the leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Ikechi Emenike, from parading himself as a member of the party.

The court consequently ordered the APC to stop recognising and dealing with Emenike as a member of the party.

Emenike is expected to join other aspirants to the governorship ticket of the APC today, Thursday, May 26, for the party primary election.

Presiding judge, Hon Justice O.A. Chijioke, in his judgment ordered: “That by reason of the suspension of the 1st Defendant as a member of the 2nd Defendant in conformity with the provisions and requirements of Article 21 of the 2014 All Progressives Congress Constitution (as amended) the 1st Defendant’s membership of All Progressives Congress including rights and privileges attached thereto are suspended.”

The suit, No. HU/6/2022, was brought before the court by Chinedum Nnoke, Ndem Chukwu and Lucky Agwu Uduma, suing as members of the Abia State Chapter of APC, against High Chief Ikechi Emenike, APC, His Excellency Mai Mala Buni (then Caretaker Committee Chairman of APC) and Hon Chief Donnatus Nwankpa, all 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Defendants, respectively.
