Army Chief Attahiru, 7 others perish on Kaduna Airport runway

 

The Nigerian Chief of Army Staff Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru and seven others have been confirmed dead in a Nigerian Air Force plane crash Friday evening in Kaduna.

A military Beechcraft 350 aircraft crashed at the Kaduna International Airport, claiming all eight souls onboard, including Lt. Gen Attahiru, newly appointed army chief.

RELIABLESOURCENG.COM gathered that the ill-fated aircraft crashed on the airport’s runway at about 6 pm.

The Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of the Accident Investigation Bureau, Akin Olateru, confirmed that eight souls died onboard.

“Beechcraft 350. 8 souls on board. Unfortunately all dead,” Olateru wrote in a WhatsApp note.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Air Force has confirmed that there was an accident involving one of its aircraft in Kaduna but did not provide details.

The Nigerian Army is yet to speak on the accident and the fate of its chief.
