APC Presidential Primary: It’s Tinubu all the way as counting progresses

The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election which started Monday, June 6 enters the third and final day today, Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at the Eagle Square, Abuja.
With voting ending early hours and counting nearing midway, former Lagos State governor and one of the presidential aspirants, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has taken the lead, leaving his rivals trailing far behind.
It is not exactly clear how many votes Tinubu has scored out of the about 2,322 ballots cast by the delegates, as there is no displayed dashboard indicating the statistics coming out of the electioneering process.
The entire process is being conducted manually, making the whole event seem so laborious.
But what is very clear to all at the venue of the election and those monitoring via live coverage on television is the persistent refrain, ‘Bola Tinubu’, Ahmed Tinubu’, ‘Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’ or simply ‘Tinubu’, ringing out from the collation and counting table, as the ballot boxes are emptied of their contents and counted.

Tinubu’s name continues to drown those of Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Ahmad Lawan and a few of the other contenders who are trailing far behind.
A total of 23 aspirants were initially jostling for the APC presidential ticket to fly the party’s flag at the 2023 general election.
However, shortly before voting got on its way, nine aspirants dropped off with seven of them stepping down for 70-year-old Tinubu, the oldest of the aspirants, while one aspirant stepped down for Osinbajo.
This is a developing story…
