The Lagos State governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced the arrest of four police officers who harassed and assaulted female protesters at the Area C Command, Surulere, on Tuesday.

Sanwo-Olu in a media briefing to Lagosians on Thursday, at State House, Marina, said the four police officers were currently undergoing an orderly room trial.

“The Lagos State government is taking the issue of police misconduct very seriously. Earlier this week, we all recorded an incident that happened at the Area C Command. All the four erring officers, whose names I will also mention, have also been apprehended and are going through an orderly room trial…They are Inspector Bagou Michael, Inspector Ekpoudum Etop, Sergeant Nnamdi Madura and Sergeant Akinyemi Benson,” the governor disclosed.

He said one of the requests of the youths was to release all #EndSARS protesters, “which has now been fulfilled.”

Sanwo-Olu, according to a tweet by his Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Gawat Jubril, demanded if there was any other protester in Lagos still in police custody, pleading, “please let us know so we can get them out immediately.”
