Again, APC shifts screening of presidential aspirants

Court nullifies all primaries conducted by APC in Rivers State

Again, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed the screening of 25 presidential aspirants on its platform for the 2023 election, slated for Monday, May 23, 2022.

The APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, announced the postponement in a statement issued on Sunday night.

He gave no reason for the postponement but added that a new date for the screening exercise will be communicated to the public shortly, without mentioning any specific time.

“The Screening Exercise for Presidential Aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) earlier scheduled to be held on Monday, May 23rd, 2022, is hereby postponed,” the terse statement read.

“A new date for the exercise will be announced shortly. Any inconvenience caused is deeply regretted.”

APC aspirants who have submitted their forms include Vice President Yemi Osibanjo, former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu; immediate past Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio; Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade; his Ebonyi State counterpart, David Umahi; Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi; former Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba and former Senate President, Ken Nnamani.

There are also Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello; his Jigawa State counterpart, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar; ex-Zamfara State governor, Ahmed Yerima; former Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Ogbonnaya Onu; former Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha and former Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun.

The screening had earlier been scheduled to hold last weekend.
